The truth is hard to believe by RenderEffect-Dan The truth is hard to believe by RenderEffect-Dan
Still thinking about the extended cut.. I am not really sure what bothers me more: The Fact that Shepard had to sacrifice himself, or is it just that one of my favorite games finally found and end? And I don't know how it will continue... Maybe that's the sad point.

Model Copyright: Bioware
EDIT: Changed dogtag to N7

I'm a giant Liara fan and this picture hits me right in the feels! I always pair FemShep and Liara together and when I finished ME3 for the first time I cried. I have never been this attached to a character before and I can't believe it's over! Hoping for a ME4 and lots of little blue children. Amazing job.

To be fair though, even if he/she does (Spoiler)      Take the breath, what is the chance that they actually survive long enough to be rescued, and more to the point. Bakumon was talking about how Liara was sad a shepard's death, and how that made themself sad, even if shepard is alive, Liara doesn't know that and so is still sad at the end because she thinks that shepared did die, so either way, If shepard lives or dies, Bakumon will always be sad as Liara doesn't know that shepard is alive or dead and so always reacts the same way.

Yeah its really hard to believe the truth. Btw, the truth that is hard to believe is this:
Bioware F-ed up the franchise w/ shitty ending. They promised so much consequence but it turned out to be a tps action game instead of a tps-rpg.
Less sidequests.
3-color ending? Really?
Last but not least...them sucking up EA's money instead of sucking up fan's demands.

All these info are on that dogtag she is holding. I feel just as sorry.

Shepard doesn't HAVE to sacrificeshim/herself. The high readiness destroy ending implies he/she lives.

I know that too... But I wanted to create something for this very sad scene. And therefore, Liara had to be sure that Shepard won't return.

We make our own truths.
While your work is pristine and effective it advocates a position easily disagreed with: The addiction of current writers to The Hero's Journey idea of melodrama.

I made my own damn ending; sits right with me it does.

Still, exacting models and knowing how to use 3DSM....I'm quite jealous. That's a truth too.

Don't you think I disagree with this scene too? But you have to face the truth, Shepard doesn't survive in every ending. And now don't say he's god , but god can't make any blue children. I appreciate your comment, and I hope to read or see your ending, now I am curious about it! Everybody had it's own way to deal with the extended cut, and this was my idea. I know, maybe a little too melodramatic, but I promise, I will return to happier images. For good old sake! And bytheway for 3dsmax....As a beginner myself I have only two things to say: Practice, and mental ray :-) Wish you a pleasant day!

As stated, we make our truths.

The idea is broken in that tale that is ME. I dispose of broken things and make them anew.

And no, it wasn't melodramatic at all. Tasteful, refined and precise. I respect the HELL out of your skills. I'm rather older than the average gamer I think is all; as I've stated elsewhere I've a fairly good idea how the world works and the surge in writers, over the last ten years or so, who have become blinded by Campells' Hero's Journey and this obsession with 'Teaching The Masses' is getting to me.

Even the man who brought such things to mainstream, Joss Whedon, overplayed his hand- thank the lord he wised up and dropped that smack with Avengers...I think. Haven't seen it yet. Like I said- I'm old...ish.

ME is unique as, unlike books, movies or television, the forth wall is permable. I'm just taking that to an...extreme if you like.

Yes, sometimes The Dragon Wins...

Not this time though.
Not this time.

First of all, be sure I took no offense. Everyone is listed to his own opinion. And I can assure you, I am not really happy at all with the ending of Mass Effect. Not until they tell us how they will go along with this brand. I am afraid of the influence of EA, which changed a lot of Bioware, and the danger of getting too mainstream is present. But in my opinion, at some point you have to stop complain about the ending. We should be happy they did at least something. Like I said, they didn't fix everything, but at least some parts of it.

But what you say is true, I never experienced a game, or even a movie, which thrilled me and absorbed me as strong as Mass Effect did. And there are a lot of people outthere who feel the same, and this gives me confidence for the future of the gaming industry. As soon as they realize, that an extra effort for the game is paid well (by customers), all those mainstream ego shooter will have an end. And that would be one step closer to a brighter future of experiencing real stories on your computerscreen. Maybe thats taken into extreme as well... I don't know. The only thing I know for sure is: gaming has no age.

Oh aye, indeed.
To be fair I don't consider it complaining- it's not on the BSN. At most a topic for conversation and consideration. I'll have to disagree with you on the 'at least they did something'.

I have two points to this:

1. The creed was 'It's your story too', the change to 'Until it isn't' is unworthy of them. All their endings were acceptable but to limit us to their dark vision without an alternative- as I said: Campbell's 'Hero's Journey' is doing more damage to modern storytelling than assistance.

2. The result of that original choice, 'until it isn't' fundamentally broke not just the bargain but the story itself. The patch job is acceptable but it's still just a patch job. EA's influence notwithstanding. And it is a BAD break- akin to ...oh...say Hamlet chucking it all away to run off with Horatio...with a musical dance number.

Actually it's worse than that.
But now I'm veering dangerously close to a lot of points that were well said in 'Tasteful Understated Nerdrage' so we'll leave that where it is.

I made my own ending, it has slipping into my memory like a missing puzzle piece that has been long sought after and the sense of peace afterwards is ...liberating.

I share your optimism for the future of gaming, provided someone puts a metaphorical bullet into the literal plague of first person shooters.

I too am thankful for the better endings that the Extended Cut gave us but, like you, it's hard to take in that it's finally over. Sure there are always new playthroughs with new, different Shepards and different choices but I will always consider Lion Shepard, my first and, until recently, only Shepard character I created.

The only crumb of comfort I can take is that, having destroyed the Reapers, my beloved Liara will be able to raise her and Lion's little blue baby / babies in safety.

Maybe he will see them one day or maybe it really was his terminal breath he took as he lay in the rubble. The fact that Liara didn't place his plaque on the memorial wall keeps that small ray of hope alive.

I absolutely agree with you. One thing is for sure: Bioware has created the most emotional game I have ever experienced. Never before a character in a game meant so much for me, and never before I felt more sad about the ending of this trilogy. May it go on and on!
